M50 PPP Contract - Provisional Preferred Tenderer Announced

21st March 2007

The National Roads Authority, having carefully considered the proposals received from the five shortlisted Tenderers, has identified the ICON Consortium (FCC Construction S.A., Itinere Infraestucturas & PJ Hegarty) as the Tenderer with the most economically advantageous Tender. The second placed Tenderer is Hibernia Roads (Acciona S.A. Mota-Engil SGPS S.A., Mota-Engil Engenharia E Construccao SA, Michael McNamara & Co, Banco Espirito Santo S.A. & Coffey Construction Ltd Coffey Plant Limited).

The Authority will now proceed with discussions with ICON with a view to appointing it as the Provisional Preferred Tenderer. If such discussions prove successful and ICON are appointed Provisional Preferred Tender, that will potentially lead to an award of the Contract for the Project. However, if such discussions terminate, the Authority has the right to revert to Best And Final Offer stage with both ICON and Hibernia Roads.

The other unsuccessful Tenderers were BAM SISK STRABAG Consortium, comprising BAM PPP Investments, John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd, Strabag AG, EuroLink M50 Consortium, comprising SIAC Consortium Ltd, Ferrovial Agroman S.A., and Irish Mobility Group, comprising Dragados Concesiones de Infraestructuras, & Dragados S.A.
